Children and youth need a community that:  encourages achievement and builds self-esteem; promotes healthy lifestyles, fitness, and activity; teaches in a classroom without walls; instills appreciation, respect, and responsibility for the natural world around them; and inspires the confidence and courage to become the leaders of tomorrow.

A Voice for Excellence

ACA's Because of Camp…™ outdoor advertising campaign officially launched in early January. Since that time, orders have been arriving daily for billboards, posters, and transit shelters. Several orders have been placed already, and are being shipped to vendors nationwide. Visit ACA's Say It Big Web page to view a map of advertising placements as they are confirmed.

Preserving the rich history of the camp experience is essential for the future. The American Camp Association (ACA) is proud to celebrate our 100th Anniversary in 2010 and the 150th Anniversary of Organized Camping in 2011, and to honor our past with this Web-based tribute.

BUBBA GUMP SHRIMP COMPANY
The first Bubba Gump’s restaurant opened in 1996 in Monterey, California by Viacom Consumer Products, the distributor of Forrest Gump. The Bubba Gump restaurant is named after the movie’s main characters Benjamin Buford “Bubba” Blue and Forrest Gump. Bubba suggested the shrimping business and ultimately Forrest pursued the idea after Bubba’s death when they served in the Vietnam War. Your choice of shrimp dishes, Bourbon Street Mahi Mahi, Dixie Style Baby Back Ribs, or Bubba’s chicken. Vegetarian option also available.

RIO GRANDE MEXICAN RESTAURANT
For the past 20 years the Rio has celebrated the art of gathering. Around Colorado people have come to identify the Rio as a place for celebration, even if it’s just the end of a long day. Known as a great place where creative food is enjoyed with a laid back “siesta” type attitude. Enjoy a large fajita buffet with steak, chicken and vegetables, Spanish rice, beans, chips and guacamole. Sopapilla bar for dessert too!

CAP CITY TAVERN
Cap City Tavern is an upscale local sports pub known for the best calzones in town! It is also the official “Denver” home of KU basketball, Nebraska Huskers and Minnesota Vikings football. Choose from a variety of menu options including veggie or meat calzones, all types of pizzas, truffle mac and cheese, fish tacos and sliders!

WYNKOOP BREWING COMPANY
The Wynkoop Brewing Company, Colorado’s oldest brew pub, was founded in 1988. It is housed in the glorious J. S. Brown Mercantile Building. The Mercantile Company was the most impressive of its time with hardwood floors, thick timber pillars and pressed tin ceilings. Miners, ranchers and city folks would walk these very floors looking for goods to furnish their frontier homes. Terrific BBQ style buffet featuring BBQ chicken, Baby-back ribs and slow roasted pulled pork.
