Bullying Workshops Now Available by Podcast

According to a recent Stop Bullying Now! (SBN!) Campaign newsletter published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, video workshops are available by podcast, which provide bullying prevention tips and techniques. Video workshops for educators, health and safety officials, youth organizations, law enforcement officials, and mental health workers are offered free of charge and can now be downloaded through iTunes®.

To listen, open iTunes® (or click here to download iTunes), make sure you have the latest version, and click on the "Podcast" button on the left of the window. Go to the "Advanced" menu at the top of the window, and select "Open Stream." Paste this URL below into the "URL" field: http://www.bullyingresources.org/podcast/bullyin gpodcast.xml

Bullying Prevention Resource Kits and Activity Guides

In addition to the availability of all the SBN! resources on the SBN! Web site, hard copies of the Resource Kits and the Communications Kits can be ordered through 1-888-ASK-HRSA.

Richard Louv Founds Children & Nature Network (C&NN)

Richard Louv, best-selling author of Last Child in the Woods and a previous keynote speaker for the 2006 ACA National Conference, has created an online network (Children & Nature Network) to connect environmental educators, conservationists, and many others who have been working to reunite children with nature. C&NN will offer a news service, a speaker's bureau, and, most importantly, a peer-to-peer network.

Child Trends Launches New Resource for Evaluating Out-of-School Time

Child Trends launches a new resource for designing, expanding, refining, improving, and evaluating out-of-school time programs. Fact sheets, research briefs, and practitioner insight reports provide critical information on new research, promising evaluation and practice techniques, and basic information to help service providers and others use research and evaluation to improve programs for youth.

Tom Osborne Federal Youth Coordination Act

The Forum for Youth Investment, along with the National Collaboration for Youth, has been successful in passing the Tom Osborne Federal Youth Coordination Act!

This act creates a Federal Youth Development Council consisting of the Secretaries of all major federal departments, community and faith-based organizations, states and local officials, and young people, charged with developing and implementing an overarching plan for meeting the needs of youth.
