PROPOSED CHANGES TO OUTFITTER GUIDE PERMITTING
The U.S. Forest Service has released new regulations for Outfitter Guides and is now accepting comments on these proposals. The "Proposed Directives for Forest Service Outfitting and Guiding Special Use Permits and Insurance Requirements for Forest Service Special Use Permits" are now available at the link below.
The proposed regulations would:
Protect the service days of Priority Use Permit holders and clarify the requirements for aprroved non-use
Create a Temporary Use Permit which would be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis to facilitate greater participation in outfitting and guiding by youth, ecucational, and religious groups
Offer the same terms and conditions to educational and institutional permit holders as to other types of permit holders
ACA is working with the USFS to announce the proposed changes and comment period to our members and encourage participation by giving input.
