Nine competition towboats from four manufacturers have been approved to pull athletes in American Water Ski Association-sanctioned tournaments in 2009. USA Water Ski’s annual towboat evaluations were held last month at Sunset Lakes in Groveland, Fla. The American Water Ski Association is one of the nine sport disciplines of USA Water Ski. The American Water Ski Educational Foundation’s 10-member Hall of Fame Selection Committee has announced that Lucky Lowe of Lake Alfred, Fla., and Lynn Novakofski of Winter Haven, Fla., will be the 2009 AWSEF Water Ski Hall of Fame inductees. The 27th annual induction ceremony will take place next April at a location to be determined in central Florida. U.S. water ski athlete Freddy Krueger set a pending men's world jumping record on Nov. 2 at the McCormick Fall Open at McCormick Lakes in Seffner, Fla. USA Water Ski has selected Storm Selsor (Fremont, Calif.) and Alex Lauretano (Winter Garden, Fla./Morris, Conn.) as its Male and Female Athletes of the Month, respectively, for October. The U.S. World University Water Ski Team earned Team of the Month honors. Selsor, Lauretano and the U.S. World University Water Ski Team are now eligible for the United States Olympic Committee’s Athlete of the Month and Team of the Month honors.
