An endowment fund is similar to a permanent
savings account The amount given to the
endowment is not spent, but the earnings
from the principal are available for the
American Camp Association projects or
for purposes specified by the donor. The
American Camp Association Endowment
has been named the "Kruger Endowment" in
honor of Joe Kruger (1906 - 1998), a beloved
volunteer whose vision and tireless energy
helped to accumulate a significant endowment
dedicated to support ACA and the future
of organized camping.
The association's endowment also includes
a number of special funds - scholarship
programs for American Camp Association
camps and memorial funds to honor the lives
of those who made significant contributions
to camping. There are also several charitable
remainder trusts and a pooled income trust.
Both provide income to the donors during
their lives and gifts to the American Camp
Association in the future. Some of the
endowed funds are comprised of gifts that
have been restricted by the donor for specified
uses, and some of the funds are unrestricted,
to be used at the discretion of the American
Camp Association to support its mission.
The endowed and special gift funds are
professionally managed under the direction
of The American Camping Foundation.
It is our hope that you will find this
brochure to be both informative and beneficial
in planning your financial future. Please
contact ACA if you have any questions or
would like assistance in planning a gift.
